Tim is passionate about helping clients to protect their IP in Australia, and throughout the world. With substantial experience working for diverse clients, from those with extensive experience in IP matters and large commercial portfolios, through to those exploring IP protection for the first time, Tim is adept at providing advice and assistance at a level well-matched to a client’s needs.
Before joining the IP profession, Tim spent ten years as a research scientist, undertaking Honours and a PhD in plant molecular biology, then working for The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO). From his time as a researcher, Tim has published more than fifteen peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, and is a named inventor himself on patents.
Tim’s primary expertise is in biotechnology, and he has assisted with drafting and prosecution of numerous biotechnology patents, including for large university and corporate clients, and biotech start-ups. However, during his career as an attorney, Tim has broadened his patent practice to other technology areas, and has also gained substantial experience in assisting with trade mark and design matters.
With an intimate understanding of the intellectual investment and the dedication required to develop new innovation, in the life sciences as well as in other technology areas, Tim is committed to helping clients get the most from their IP.
